Frequently Asked Questions
Bay of Plenty Regional Council (BOPRC) became aware of orchards using pit latrine and "flush to ground" toilet systems which were potential environmental and health hazards. New compact septic solutions were developed to efficiently replace these toilet blocks.
With more orchard workers in the BOP area each year, orchardist are reminded that they need to supply acceptable toilets for their workers in accordance with the GLOBAL Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) code. This information will be assessed and number of toilet blocks determined by your approved designer.
This is consent work under the resource management act and an approved designer will assist orchardist and Vepo with submission to BOPRC.
There is no specific system that you must install, but your installation must meet the BOPRC design parameters. Vepo BOP with the help of Biolytix can provide a compact septic tank and septic closet that is efficient to install and already approved and installed on orchards throughout BOP.
